Artist Statement: 

This artwork was created during the time when South Africa raised a concern over a new highly infectious coronavirus variant on 25 November 2021. On the next day, the World Health Organization (WHO) named this variant of concern, Omicron. I have named this artwork, ‘Oh my, Omicron’, as the expression of this French bulldog resonates with the expression on the faces of many people who have travel plans this year end when they heard about stricter travel rules and border closures (again) due to Omicron.
