Artist Statement:

For almost the past two years, working and studying from home has allowed people to dress comfortably in T-shirts and sleepwear while expanding our waistline unconsciously. The vaccination drive and gradual cautious reopening of the economy make people realised that their shirt felt really tight, pants no longer fit and bra is causing backache. Furthermore, they are unsure of what is the proper dress code anymore. This portrait painting portrays a well-groomed man dressed in a smart suit and matching accessories, a pre-pandemic normalcy. It has been named as “Stop” to reflect the moment people asked themselves, ‘What should I wear?”
